The 2022 Raleigh Motus Low Step Electric Bike in Vintage Green is the entry level bike in the Raleigh Motus range. It is an electric hybrid bike for everyday life. With a powerful Bosch battery and motor, the Motus makes easy work of long journeys and sharp inclines. The unisex Low Step design makes it easy to hop on and off the bike and to get your feet on the ground when you stop.

A super-lightweight Bosch motor adds power to your pedalling, with a near-noiseless design allowing you to ride in complete, uninterrupted peace. The newly re-designed Active Line motor is 25% smaller than its predecessor, weighs in at only 2.9kgs and is almost completely noise-free so you can get the maximum enjoyment out of your journeys. With an energy output of up to 250% of your pedal power. A Purion Display lets you switch between four different modes, so you can put in as much (or as little) effort as you fancy. The 400WH battery will allow you to ride for up to 80 miles on a single charge.

Perfect for city riding, roads and cycle paths, the Motus offers sophisticated tech at an affordable price point. It comes with hydraulic disc brakes, reflective tyres, bell, an adjustable handlebar stem, and 7-speed Shimano gears.

Electric Bike Motors Explained

Electric bikes have really come into their own in the last couple of years. Thanks to advances in electric bike motors and batteries. A couple of bike manufacturers, most notably Specialized, are making their own electric bike motors. The vast majority of bike companies are using the same motors. So, you will find exactly the same electric motor being used on bikes from different brands and at different price points. In this guide, we’ll take you through the main types of electric bike motors. Look at the differences between the most commonly used brands.

Electric Bike Hub Motors vs Mid-Drive Motors

Electric bikes tend to either come with a hub motor or a mid-drive motor. Mid-drive motors sit where the cranks and bottom bracket are on a bike and drive the cranks and chain around. Hub drive motors sit in the middle of the wheel and drive the wheel directly. Hub drive electric bikes are cheaper but less efficient, and less smooth, to ride.
