The 2022 Specialized Sirrus X 4.0 Hybrid Bike takes elements from gravel and mountain bikes to make the Sirrus X your ticket to riding more, and to places you never imagined possible. It's a comfortable, capable, "let's do stuff" kind of bike that will inspire you to ride more than you ever have before.

The Sirrus X is the replacement for the Specialized Crosstrail which has been one of their best-selling bikes for years. The Sirrus X does away with the old style suspension fork that came on the Crosstrail to save a whopping 1.7kg, making the bike lighter, faster and easier to carry if you need to get it up and down stairs.

With bigger, confidence inspiring tyres, a slightly more upright riding position, a super intuitive one-by drivetrain, and plenty of mounts for racks and mudguards the Sirrus X can handle more than just your daily commute. Sirrus X is also a dialled option when it's time to hit some gravel at the weekends. Every Sirrus X comes with next-level comfort from scientifically tested and ergonomically engineered Shared Platform Body Geometry saddle, handgrips, and pedals.

The Sirrus X 4.0 comes with Specialized’s own Future Shock 1.5. Normally found on their endurance road bikes the Future shock allows 20mm of movement in the fork to soak up bumps without adding the weight of a traditional suspension fork. 1x 11 Speed SRAM gearing make this bike capable of tackling any hills you want to point it at.

This bike is perfect for

Anyone who wants a bike that can handle the daily commute and take you exploring on gravel roads, dirt tracks and cycle paths at the weekend. The super simple design makes this bike easy to maintain and easy to live with. With the addition of the Future Shock and 11 speed SRAM gears this bike is really capable off-road.

Key Features

  • Future Shock 1.5 delivers 20mm of compliance to give maximum comfort and control over the rough stuff.
  • Added Carbon Fork and an A1 SL alloy frame delivers a build 1.6lb (.8kg) lighter than the 3.0 model–no heavy hybrid featuring a mountain style suspension fork comes close.
  • Wide-range 1x11 SRAM NX shifting delivers precise shifting for the long haul

Why buy a hybrid bike?

Hybrids are the bikes that most people should have. If you want a bike for commuting, going to the shops, getting fit or just for getting around a hybrid is generally the best choice. They combine the speed of a road racing bike with the confident handling of a mountain bike to give you the best of both worlds.

Where are you going to ride?

The first point to think about when picking a hybrid is the kind of surfaces you will be riding on. There are two main flavours of hybrid bike. Some, like the Trek FX, Specialized Sirrus and Cannondale Quick are mainly intended for use on the road. They have bigger gears and skinnier tyres so that they are fast on tarmac. Other bikes like the Trek Dual Sport, Specialized Sirrus X or Cannondale Quick CX are designed to be used on a mixture of surfaces including tracks and gravel paths. They have bigger, grippier tyres and often come with easier gears and some suspension to soak up bumps.

Who are Specialized?

Specialized is one of the best-known quality bike brands in the world. Started by a group of riders in 1974. A fact which has guided their decision making ever since.

" Made for riders, by riders."

They strove to make the best quality tires when quality tyres weren't around. When people wanted to ride cruisers in the dirt, they made the first production mountain bike. When roadies wanted to go faster, Specialized doubled down on carbon and built their own wind tunnel.

Bikes like the Allez, Rockhopper and Stumpjumper have developed followings and reputations of their own. Specialized has a reputation for making high-end, high-quality bikes. Specialized bikes always look great with high-quality paint and sensible sizing hel0s you get the right bike each time. If you buy a Specialized bike you can be guaranteed it will do what it is supposed to and will last.
