The 2024 Cannondale Moterra SL 2 Full Suspension Electric Mountain Bike is the first 150mm trail bike to pack 85Nm of torque, 600W+ of peak output, and 601Wh of power into a machine weighing as little as 20.6kg /45.4lbs. Full-power fun meets lightweight agility – it’s in a class of its own.
Just call it the “sweet spot” – the best of both worlds. Big-bike power and ride time, with lightweight-bike agility and handling. In other words, exactly what e-mtb riders everywhere have been waiting for. The lightweight carbon fibre frame features weight-saving FlexPivot technology, and houses a custom battery that packs more watts per kilo than any other on the market. Power comes from a custom-tuned version of Shimano’s EP801 drive unit with custom ride modes specially tuned for this bike.
The Moterra SL 2 comes with the same frame, motor and battery as the Moterra 1 but with a more affordable build. This includes performance Fox Float suspension and a mix of reliable Shimano XT and Deore equipment.

Electric Bike Hub Motors vs Mid-Drive Motors
Electric bikes tend to either come with a hub motor or a mid-drive motor. Mid-drive motors sit where the cranks and bottom bracket are on a bike and drive the cranks and chain around. Hub drive motors sit in the middle of the wheel and drive the wheel directly. Hub drive electric bikes are cheaper but less efficient, and less smooth, to ride.
