The 2024 Specialized P.1 Hardtail Jump Bike gives riders of all sizes a jumping off point to a life on bikes. The lightweight, but tough alloy frame is designed to take all the hits and keep rolling—across all frame and wheel size options. Specialized's approach to these robust bikes centres around delivering a simple, high-quality platform that's versatile for all riders, and packs in category-first features that make a difference to the rider.

Starting with the durable lightweight alloy frame, P.Series stands up to unique demands of a bike that only dirt jump riders know. It’s going to hit the ground. A lot. The latest and greatest levers, adjustment switches, and complex cabling have their place—but not here. For the rider focusing on progression, eliminating every other variable is paramount. Instead of compromising on its heart and soul (flipping and whipping through the air), Specialized expanded its capability. It’s dropper ready, derailleur compatible, and uses adjustable dropouts. You can ride it out your door all the way to the bike park—and make a pitstop to session along the way.

Built with a boost spaced rear end for added stiffness, this burly wheel setup along with tapered headtube, and threaded bottom-bracket make P.Series extremely resilient and easy to maintain. Wrapped in its new 2.1” Kicker tyre—but accepting up to a 2.35” trail tyre—you’ll find grip and make speed anywhere.

This bike is perfect for

Riders looking to progress in dirt jumps but who also want to be able to ride trails and parks with a bike that's simple and easy to adapt.

Specialized MTB Range Guide

Specialized have been making mountain bikes for nearly as long as there have been mountain bikes. Models like the Rockhopper and Stumpjumper have been staples of the range for decades with the technology being updated and refined every year. The 2022 Specialized mountain bike range has bikes for all kinds of mountain bikers with prices ranging from £500 to over £10,000.

All Specialized mountain bikes are ‘beyond gender’. Although they are technically unisex, Specialized tend to fit more female friendly saddles on the smaller size bikes and more male friendly saddles on the larger bikes. These can easily be swapped out to suit preferences.

Who are Specialized?

Specialized is one of the best-known quality bike brands in the world. Started by a group of riders in 1974. A fact which has guided their decision making ever since.

" Made for riders, by riders."

They strove to make the best quality tires when quality tyres weren't around. When people wanted to ride cruisers in the dirt, they made the first production mountain bike. When roadies wanted to go faster, Specialized doubled down on carbon and built their own wind tunnel.

Bikes like the Allez, Rockhopper and Stumpjumper have developed followings and reputations of their own. Specialized has a reputation for making high-end, high-quality bikes. Specialized bikes always look great with high-quality paint and sensible sizing hel0s you get the right bike each time. If you buy a Specialized bike you can be guaranteed it will do what it is supposed to and will last.

Mountain Bike Buying Guide

Mountain biking is an incredibly diverse sport. Mountain bikes now come in three main flavours. They are XC, Trail and Enduro.

XC – short for cross country, are quick race bikes. They will normally have 29” wheels and come with 100mm of suspension. If you are mainly going to be riding bridleways and natural trails in the South East of England, where our shops are, an XC bike will be the quickest and most efficient option.

Trail – these bikes are designed to be pedalled up and down hill and for use on bridleways and natural trails, but also at dedicated trail centres. They normally come with 130mm or 140mm of suspension travel and can have either 27.5” or 29” wheels, but 29” is quickly becoming the norm. Trail bikes are good all-rounders. They won’t be as fast as an XC bike on the flat but they can handle a lot more challenging terrain, and a few jumps. If you plan on taking your bike to trail centres in Wales, or to the Alps, then a trail bike may be your best option.

Enduro – enduro racing is a thing in and of itself but many people buy enduro bikes for ‘aggressive’ trail riding and uplift days at places like Bike Park Wales. This generally means challenging downhill trails with some big jumps. With around 160mm of suspension travel enduro bikes can take some big hits. They are designed to be efficient enough to pedal up hills but really come into their own when pointed downhill. You get enduro bikes in either 27.5” or 29” wheel sizes as well as mullet setups of 29 at the front and 27.5 at the back.

Men’s and women’s mountain bikes

Nearly all the mountain bikes we sell are now unisex. All of the big brands have gradually stopped doing dedicated men’s and women’s bikes over the last few years. Instead they are focussed on producing bikes in a bigger range of sizes. So, for instance, the Trek Marlin 5 is a unisex bike that now comes in sizes from XXS to XXL large. This means it will fit riders from 4’ 5” to 6’ 5” and everything in between.
