The 2023 Specialized Turbo Kenevo SL 2 Comp Full Suspension Electric Bike is a super light electric bike based on the ward-winning Enduro chassis.

The super lightweight Turbo SL 1.2 system is the most efficient e-bike system in the world, unlocking maximum range-to-weight. It delivers 33% more power (320 Watts) than its predecessor with a supernatural feel, while 43% more torque (50Nm) lets you ride more of the trails you crave. It’s also the quietest e-bike system in the world.

The Kenevo SL 2’s 170mm of Enduro-inspired travel is tuned to keep composure on small bumps to big impacts, yet still offers amazing pedal response and efficient power delivery. A generous cockpit centers you on the bike, above 29” wheels, optimizing traction and corner control. The low bottom bracket, slack head tube angle, and reduced fork offset keep things stable in the rough. With geometry finely tuned over 30 years of making full suspension bikes and proven on the global stage time and time again, you can be confident the feedback in rough terrain will be calm and stable.

The Kenevo SL Expert comes with Fox 38 Rhythm forks and a FOX FLOAT X Performance rear shock. SRAM GX Eagle gearing provides plenty of range.

This bike is perfect for

Enduro and gravity focussed riders who want a lightweight bike that pedals and handles naturally on all kinds of terrain.

What is Specialized Mission Control?

Mission Control is a free app created by Specialized to work with their Turbo electric bikes. The app is exclusive to Specialized and unlocks a lot of features which you can’t get on other electric bike systems. Specialized recommend that everyone who has one of their electric bikes should pair it to Mission Control.

Mission control has been around for a few years and has gradually been evolving and improving. It covers four main areas:

  1. Track your rides – record speed, distance, maps etc
  2. Tune your ride – adjust max power, acceleration and other settings
  3. Manage your ride – make sure you don’t run out of power
  4. Fix your ride – get notified of errors and access diagnostics, including suggested fixes

Electric Bike Motors Explained

Electric bikes have really come into their own in the last couple of years. Thanks to advances in electric bike motors and batteries. A couple of bike manufacturers, most notably Specialized, are making their own electric bike motors. The vast majority of bike companies are using the same motors. So, you will find exactly the same electric motor being used on bikes from different brands and at different price points. In this guide, we’ll take you through the main types of electric bike motors. Look at the differences between the most commonly used brands.

Electric Bike Hub Motors vs Mid-Drive Motors

Electric bikes tend to either come with a hub motor or a mid-drive motor. Mid-drive motors sit where the cranks and bottom bracket are on a bike and drive the cranks and chain around. Hub drive motors sit in the middle of the wheel and drive the wheel directly. Hub drive electric bikes are cheaper but less efficient, and less smooth, to ride.

Who are Specialized?

Specialized is one of the best-known quality bike brands in the world. Started by a group of riders in 1974. A fact which has guided their decision making ever since.

" Made for riders, by riders."

They strove to make the best quality tires when quality tyres weren't around. When people wanted to ride cruisers in the dirt, they made the first production mountain bike. When roadies wanted to go faster, Specialized doubled down on carbon and built their own wind tunnel.

Bikes like the Allez, Rockhopper and Stumpjumper have developed followings and reputations of their own. Specialized has a reputation for making high-end, high-quality bikes. Specialized bikes always look great with high-quality paint and sensible sizing hel0s you get the right bike each time. If you buy a Specialized bike you can be guaranteed it will do what it is supposed to and will last.
