The Giro Escape MIPS Urban Cycling Helmet is designed for urban riders seeking modern style and protective capability, plus enhanced visibility to stand out in busy, crowded roadways and streets. The sleek shape of the Escape Mips offers great ventilation and deep coverage, with a durable ABS plastic shell and integrated, rechargeable LED lights front and rear. The integrated front light offers bright “be seen” white light while the rear light shines bright red for substantially increased visibility to drivers and other road users. The fit is luxurious, with an adjustable Roc Loc Sport Mips system that provides superior fit comfort with enhanced stability at the turn of a dial. The Escape Mips also is equipped with an integrated Mips brain protection system, which can help to redirect impact forces to provide an additional measure of protection in certain impacts.

What does MIPS do?
A Standard bike helmet protects you via a polystyrene shell which absorbs force and breaks apart. In a MIPS helmet, there is a liner that is in contact with your head and will move independently from the outer shell when there is an impact. This allows some of the force of the impact to be absorbed before the polystyrene shell takes the hit and reduces the level of shock to the brain. MIPS works best in angled impacts which is how many real-world crashes happen. Traditionally helmets have been designed for direct, head-on, impacts. So it is argued that a helmet with MIPS provides a greater level of safety in real-world conditions.
