The Giro Montaro II MIPS Mens Mountain Bike Helmet is an updated classic. Already one of Giro's most popular trail helmets of all time, the Montaro Mips II now benefits from the Roc Loc 5 Air Mips System. This sleek design integrates 2-way fit and stability adjustment with the Mips brain protection system, for an added measure of protection from rotational forces without excess plastic against your skin.
The helmet’s compact shape offers deep coverage and an in-mould hardbody shell for enhanced durability without excess weight. In addition to advanced brain protection, the Montaro II is outfitted with Ionic+ padding with permanent anti-microbial performance plus 16 vents with internal channelling to keep you cool and comfortable.
The Montaro II has the features you need for great fit with goggles, including strap grippers on the back of the helmet and Giro's patented P.O.V. Plus visor that allows you to lift the visor and place your goggles on the front of the helmet when your run is done. A clever breakaway interface for your favourite light or camera is included too.

What is a MIPS helmet?
Let's start by clarifying the meaning of MIPS. MIPS stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System. Developed and owned, by a Swedish company that licenses the system to cycle helmet manufacturers. MIPS technology is very popular with Manufacturers.
What does MIPS do?
A Standard bike helmet protects you via a polystyrene shell which absorbs force and breaks apart. In a MIPS helmet, there is a liner that is in contact with your head and will move independently from the outer shell when there is an impact. This allows some of the force of the impact to be absorbed before the polystyrene shell takes the hit and reduces the level of shock to the brain. MIPS works best in angled impacts which is how many real-world crashes happen. Traditionally helmets have been designed for direct, head-on, impacts. So it is argued that a helmet with MIPS provides a greater level of safety in real-world conditions.
