The 2026 Trek Marlin 5 Gen 3 Hardtail Mountain Bike is the second bike in the Marlin range and has been our best-selling mountain bike for the last couple if years. The Marlin 5 comes with upgraded gears and brakes from the Marlin 4, making it more suitable for off-road use.
The Marlin is built around a lightweight aluminium frame with internal routing to protect your cables and add to the bike's sleek look. Big tyre clearance and slack, confidence-boosting geometry keeps you stable from singletrack to city. The frame and wheels vary according to the size of the bike. The XXS and XS bikes have a curved top tube to reduce the standover height. The XXS bikes comes with 26" wheels, the XS and S sizes come with 27.5" wheels and all other sizes come with 29" wheels.
The Marlin 5 comes with Shimano's new 9 speed CUES gears and Shimano hydraulic brakes. Most sizes come with a 100mm travel SR Suntour XCT 30 fork, the XSmall size comes with an 80mm version.

Trek Marlin Sizing
Different size Trek marlins can come with a different frame and wheel size. The size small and Xsmall Marlin comes with a 27.5" wheels. The Medium, Large and Xlarge come with a 29" wheel. The XSmall size also comes with a curved top tube on the frame to increase standover height for shorter riders. The larger bikes have a straight top tube.
