The 2025 Specialized Epic Hardtail Comp Mountain Bike is an XC focussed lightweight bike. It is designed to excel on race day but still be capable and comfortable with aggressive singletrack-inspired geometry.
The Epic range have long been Specialized's flagship XC race bikes. In the past that has meant an obsessive focus on making bikes as light as possible, which has sometimes resulted in bikes which give a pretty unforgiving ride. With the new Epic Specialized instead, recognizing that the fastest bike is more than simply the lightest bike. With increased vertical compliance, bigger tyre clearance and more stable handing the new Epic is easier to live with.
The Epic Hardtail Comp comes with RockShox's long-beloved SID SL fork with 100mm of travel. While a full SRAM Transmission groupset leaves no doubts about why it sets the benchmark for accessible performance.
