The 2025 Specialized Turbo Vado SL 2 6.0 EQ Carbon Hybrid Electric Bike is a premium, performance machine carefully engineered to make fitness fun, and your commute electric. It comes with a carbon frame inspired by the best bike racers in the world, Future Shock for an ultra-smooth ride, an ergonomic position for telepathic handling, and a super light electric motor.

The whisper quiet Specialized SL 1.2 motor is combined with a 520Wh battery which will sustain your ride for up to 5 hours. That’s a 20 minute commute, both ways, for a week straight without having to recharge. Vado SL 2 Carbon has a slacker, taller head tube than previous generations for more confident handling on challenging surfaces and to ease the load on your hands, arms, and neck, while still being quick and nimble on busy streets. With 47c Hemisphere tyres, designed to fly on pavement and grip on gravel, creates a confident, fast, and smooth ride on every road and in any conditions.

The Vado SL 2 Carbon 6.0 Equipped gives you the ability to set your bike up as the fastest, most versatile urban hauler you can imagine. With DryTech mudguards to keep the weather at bay and MIK HD/MIK Side rear rack for a child seat or cargo carrying, your Vado SL 2 will be ready for any task all season.

What is Specialized Mission Control?

Mission Control is a free app created by Specialized to work with their Turbo electric bikes. The app is exclusive to Specialized and unlocks a lot of features which you can’t get on other electric bike systems. Specialized recommend that everyone who has one of their electric bikes should pair it to Mission Control.

Mission control has been around for a few years and has gradually been evolving and improving. It covers four main areas:

  1. Track your rides – record speed, distance, maps etc
  2. Tune your ride – adjust max power, acceleration and other settings
  3. Manage your ride – make sure you don’t run out of power
  4. Fix your ride – get notified of errors and access diagnostics, including suggested fixes

Electric Bike Motors Explained

Electric bikes have really come into their own in the last couple of years. Thanks to advances in electric bike motors and batteries. A couple of bike manufacturers, most notably Specialized, are making their own electric bike motors. The vast majority of bike companies are using the same motors. So, you will find exactly the same electric motor being used on bikes from different brands and at different price points. In this guide, we’ll take you through the main types of electric bike motors. Look at the differences between the most commonly used brands.

Electric Bike Hub Motors vs Mid-Drive Motors

Electric bikes tend to either come with a hub motor or a mid-drive motor. Mid-drive motors sit where the cranks and bottom bracket are on a bike and drive the cranks and chain around. Hub drive motors sit in the middle of the wheel and drive the wheel directly. Hub drive electric bikes are cheaper but less efficient, and less smooth, to ride.

Who are Specialized?

Specialized is one of the best-known quality bike brands in the world. Started by a group of riders in 1974. A fact which has guided their decision making ever since.

" Made for riders, by riders."

They strove to make the best quality tires when quality tyres weren't around. When people wanted to ride cruisers in the dirt, they made the first production mountain bike. When roadies wanted to go faster, Specialized doubled down on carbon and built their own wind tunnel.

Bikes like the Allez, Rockhopper and Stumpjumper have developed followings and reputations of their own. Specialized has a reputation for making high-end, high-quality bikes. Specialized bikes always look great with high-quality paint and sensible sizing hel0s you get the right bike each time. If you buy a Specialized bike you can be guaranteed it will do what it is supposed to and will last.
