The 2022 Specialized Turbo Kenevo SL Comp Electric Mountain Bike in Gloss Smoke melds the legendary handling and all-around big trail prowess of the Specialized Enduro with Super Light electric support to deliver a lightweight bike with the power to conquer more and bigger trails.

The Turbo Kenevo Super Light geometry can be fine-tuned for wherever and however you ride. Six distinct geometry settings allow easy adjustment to hone performance in any terrain. The head angle can be adjusted between 63 and 65.5 degrees. Bottom bracket height can be fine-tuned up or down by 7mm. The Turbo Kenevo Super Light’s 170mm of Enduro-inspired travel is supple on small bumps and big hits yet still offers amazing pedal response and delivers your power to the ground with total efficiency.

The Turbo Kenevo SL Comp pairs a capable e-MTB chassis with a smart mix of components including SRAM GX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain, full FOX suspension, and a lightweight, durable alloy wheelset.

This bike is perfect for

Enduro and bike park riders who want a little extra help getting up climbs. The Kenevo SL rides like an analogue bike but has the extra capability of a 250W motor.

Key Features

  • The Turbo Kenevo Super Light motor/controller system is a full integration of the bike’s 250-watt motor and 320Wh battery with a radically advanced and seamlessly integrated controller. The result is massive power delivered to get you to the top of your favourite descent with just half of the effort, and much faster, giving even more of the quality ride you yearn for, and more of it than ever before possible.
  • Next-generation TCU2 is your information hub, with customizable display fields including the exact percentage of battery level, and features our all-new, bar-mounted MicroTune function to adjust power delivery in 10% increments, so you get exactly the support you need to experience precisely the ride you want.
  • 29” wheels front and rear deliver a nimble ride that carves circles around other full-power e-MTBs. A generous cockpit centres you on the bike, optimizing traction and corner control. The low bottom bracket, slack headtube angle and reduced fork offset keep things stable in the rough.
  • The Turbo Kenevo Super Light’s S-Sizing is based on what matters—rider size and style, not inseam. Six sizes, all with similar headtube lengths and standover, allow you to choose the size that best suits your individual style. Smaller S-Size numbers are going to be nimble and more flickable, while bigger S-Sizes deliver more stability and a roomier ride.

What is Specialized Mission Control?

Mission Control is a free app created by Specialized to work with their Turbo electric bikes. The app is exclusive to Specialized and unlocks a lot of features which you can’t get on other electric bike systems. Specialized recommend that everyone who has one of their electric bikes should pair it to Mission Control.

Mission control has been around for a few years and has gradually been evolving and improving. It covers four main areas:

  1. Track your rides – record speed, distance, maps etc
  2. Tune your ride – adjust max power, acceleration and other settings
  3. Manage your ride – make sure you don’t run out of power
  4. Fix your ride – get notified of errors and access diagnostics, including suggested fixes

Electric Bike Motors Explained

Electric bikes have really come into their own in the last couple of years. Thanks to advances in electric bike motors and batteries. A couple of bike manufacturers, most notably Specialized, are making their own electric bike motors. The vast majority of bike companies are using the same motors. So, you will find exactly the same electric motor being used on bikes from different brands and at different price points. In this guide, we’ll take you through the main types of electric bike motors. Look at the differences between the most commonly used brands.

Electric Bike Hub Motors vs Mid-Drive Motors

Electric bikes tend to either come with a hub motor or a mid-drive motor. Mid-drive motors sit where the cranks and bottom bracket are on a bike and drive the cranks and chain around. Hub drive motors sit in the middle of the wheel and drive the wheel directly. Hub drive electric bikes are cheaper but less efficient, and less smooth, to ride.

Who are Specialized?

Specialized is one of the best-known quality bike brands in the world. Started by a group of riders in 1974. A fact which has guided their decision making ever since.

" Made for riders, by riders."

They strove to make the best quality tires when quality tyres weren't around. When people wanted to ride cruisers in the dirt, they made the first production mountain bike. When roadies wanted to go faster, Specialized doubled down on carbon and built their own wind tunnel.

Bikes like the Allez, Rockhopper and Stumpjumper have developed followings and reputations of their own. Specialized has a reputation for making high-end, high-quality bikes. Specialized bikes always look great with high-quality paint and sensible sizing hel0s you get the right bike each time. If you buy a Specialized bike you can be guaranteed it will do what it is supposed to and will last.
