The Garmin Edge 530 GPS Cycle Computer is designed to let you ride like a local. It comes with preloaded maps that provide information about elevation data and points of interest and allow you to search for addresses. Never get lost with turn-by-turn directions and alerts that notify you of upcoming turns. If you do take a detour off your route, or decide to head home early, the back to start function will guide you. Mountain bike and gravel riders can also make use of the Trailforks app. This mode automatically displays upcoming forks in the trail and gives you context by showing where you are within a trail network. If you are not sure where to ride then Trendline Popularity Routing can use the billions of kilometres of ride data that cyclists have uploaded to find the best route — choosing from roads (and trails) most travelled.
While the Edge 530 does navigation brilliantly it also looks after your performance. Dynamic performance monitoring gives insight about how your body is responding to training. It allows you to track VO2 max, recovery time, training load, training load focus and more. You can then automatically evaluate your recent exercise history and performance indicators to see if you’re training productively, peaking or overreaching. To make the most of your training you can sync workouts from TrainingPeaks and Garmin Connect, right to your Edge device. View your upcoming training, and launch into the relevant workout seamlessly.
When it is time for a break the PIN-protected bike alarm will notify you on your smartphone if your bike is moved while you’re inside getting water or making a pit stop. Group messaging lets you stay in touch with your riding crew when you get separated from the pack while LiveTrack lets friends and family follow your real-time location and even view your entire pre-planned course. It can even alert them if you have an accident.
