Our mountain bike demo weekend is a chance to try out the latest models from bike brands including Specialized, Trek, Whyte, Marin, Cannondale, Polygon, Merida, Santa Cruz and Haibike. As the 2018 model year has just started this is one of the first chances most people will have had to test ride the newest mountain bikes. In between customers test riding the bikes, the demo weekend is a chance for some of our staff to get their hands on the 2018 mountain bike range. While we haven’t had the chance to test every bike yet, our staff have picked their favourites from the 2018 mountain bikes they got to try out over the weekend.
Charlie from Cycles UK Head Office – HaiBike Full Fat
Maybe impractical but outrageously fun and will put a smile on your face.
Tom from Cycles UK Canterbury – Polygon XQuareone
Feels unreal, so planted and soaks up everything. Looks crazy too.
Jack from Cycles UK Watford – Whyte T-130C RS
So planted! Stable on all types of trails. The lockout works a treat and opens the bike up to all types of riding.
Stuart from Cycles UK Romford – Diamondback Corax 1.0
Great handling e-bike. It’s a fantastic all-rounder and great value.
Peter from Cycles UK Head Office - Cannondale Habit
Nimble and fast. The short wheelbase means you can really chuck it about in the corners. The Habit flies up climbs and has enough travel to handle most rocks, roots and drops. A perfect bike for UK XC and trail riding.
Richard from Cycles UK Basildon - Specialized Epic Expert
With short 110mm travel this was the perfect bike for the cross country course at Hadleigh. The bike was super fast and climbed like a mountain goat so the suspension. Singletrack Magazine have said the 2018 hardtail Epic is the fastest bike they have ever tested and this version can't be far behind.
Richard from Cycles UK Basildon - Specialized Stumpjumper Expert
The Stumpjumper Expert was in my opinion the best looking bike at the demo weekend. The image really does not do the bike justice. The 150mm travel meant it could ride over anything at Hadleigh with ease. The bike was fast and I was surprised it climbed as well as it did. Whether you are riding Cross Country at Hadleigh or tackling the courses at Bike Park Wales this this is the right bike for you.
