On 14th December 2017 Specialized issued a stop notice for the 2018 Specialized Allez, Allez Sport and Allez Elite bikes. They have asked people to stop riding their bikes, and for retailers to stop selling them, due to a potential problem with the front forks.
Specialized have said that the 2018 Specialized Allez bikes “may contain a manufacturing defect in the fork crown which potentially affects safety”. They are emphasising that there have been no accidents and no-one had been injured riding the bike, but they are not happy with it and want to get all of the forks replaced.
If you have purchased a 2018 Specialized Allez from Cycles UK you should have already had an email and a phone call from us regarding the recall. If, for any reason, you haven’t heard from us please get in touch with your local store and they will be able to update you on what is going to happen.
New Forks and Free Stuff
Specialized are in the process of getting the new forks made and have said that they will all be painted to match the bikes. We don’t have an exact date on when the new forks will arrive but we expect it to be early in the New Year. If you bought your Specialized Allez from Cycles UK then our mechanics will swap out the forks for you once they arrive.
As well as sorting everyone out with new forks Specialized have announced that 2018 Specialized Allez owners will be able to claim £75 worth of free Specialized gear when they get their forks replaced. We are still waiting on the exact details for this but we’ll be able to arrange it with you at the same time that your forks get swapped out.
In the meantime please follow Specialized’s advice and stay off your bike until the new forks arrive.
