History: Cannondale is a major American division of a Canadian conglomerate of Dorel Industries founded by Joe Montgomery, Jim Catrambone and Ron Davis in 1971. It manufactured backpacks and bags for camping then bicycle trailers for touring. In 1997 Cannondale was the first company to feature large, oversized aluminium bicycle frames that won four stages at the 1999 Tour de France. In 2010 it developed the CAAD10 which is the most advanced aluminium road frame in the world.
Sponsorship of individuals/teams: Cannondale sponsor 6 teams and 22 individual professional riders’ bicycles in the North American and European professional cycling circuits.
Interesting fact: Cannondale are the only cycle company in the world to design a single-leg fork design. The fork is as stiff and strong as most dual-crown DH forks, yet lighter than most all-mountain bicycle forks.
