Recently we wrote about how to look after your bike and gave you practical and stylish looks for you to wear/use when on your bike. We know a lot of people are getting bikes out of sheds to exercise and commute. The government has launched the fix your bike scheme which enables you to apply for a £50 voucher to get a bike repaired. Once that bike is functional again, you might want to give it a little revamp. The simplest way to do this is to replace some of the sometimes more bland components of your bike with colourful ones. Here are some of our top tips to help you fall in love with your bike all over again.

Update Ya Bike

Adding a pop of colour to a black bike or a complementary colour can make your bike more original to you but also give it that little extra pep to make you feel really good about it.

KMC Chains

A simple way to do this is with a colourful chain.

Changing the grips or Bar tape on your handlebars can make a big difference to the way your bike looks and is relatively easy to do. Here are just some of what we have online for you to peruse

Botrager recycled grips

Bontrager's colourful new XR Trail Comp and Elite Bar Grips made from recycled plastic so you can be ethical and colourful at the same time.

For Road riders, we have Supacaz products which host a variety of vibrant and exciting Bar tapes, Stem caps and Bar plugs.

If you're looking for plainer style bar tape, we have

Other ways to mix up the look of your bike is to change your pedals which is also a simple job with a little guidance from instructions either with pedals or online.

DMR Pedals

DMR pedals have a large selection of colours and styles available

Finally, if you're looking for the full package, we have the full Deity range which includes handlebars, saddles, pedals, stems, post clamps, cap kits, valve caps and bar grips in a wide range of colours. Which means you can entirely revamp your bike using a complementary colour and know that everything will be the same shade.

Going Tubeless

There are benefits to going tubeless; it means you don't need to carry a replacement innertube, you're less likely to suffer from punctures. It also means you can ride at a lower PSI (tyre pressure) meaning more control and better feeling ride, particularly beneficial for mountain, cyclocross and gravel riding. Luckily for you, we wrote a blog which will help you figure out if you want/can go tubeless. You can read more here.
