Having a bike is great way to give teenagers a sense of freedom, and to stop them relying on mum and dad for taxi services. With the lockdowns that have been going on in 2021 it has also been a great way for teenagers to get some exercise, meet up with friends and get into a new sport. We sell a lot of bikes to teenagers (or their parents) and below we have rounded up some of our favourites.

All of the bikes below are adult bikes but come in sizes small enough to fit the majority of teenagers. By buying an adult bike you get more choice and better value for money.

2021 Trek Marlin 5  - £495

2021 Trek marlin 5

Trek claim the Marlin is the best selling mountain bike in the world and with the number we get through we can believe it. They are especially popular with teenagers as they look fantastic and give them mountain bike styling on a bike that can also be used for getting to school. The bigger bikes (medium size and up) use a 29” wheel while the smaller sizes come with a 27.5” wheel. It is also worth knowing that the smallest bikes come with a curved top tube similar to the ones on the women’s version of the bike. The Marlin 5 is available in 3 different colours.

2021 Specialized Rockhopper Sport - £549

2021 Specialized Rockhopper Sport

If the Trek Marlin is the best selling mountain bike in the world then the Specialized Rockhopper can’t be far behind. The Sport is the second model in the Rockhopper range and we have picked it here because it comes with the all important hydraulic disc brakes. These give much better stopping power in the wet and are a must have feature for many riders. Like the Trek the Specialized comes with 27.5” wheels on the smaller bikes and 29” wheels on the bigger bikes. Unlike the Trek they all come with the same frame design. However, Specialized do ship the small and xsmall bikes with a women’s saddle fitted. Like the Marlin the Rockhopper sport is available in 3 different colour options.

2021 GT Aggressor Expert - £480

2021 GT Aggressor Expert Hardtail Mountain Bike in Slate

The GT Aggressor comes in a little bit cheaper than either the Rockhopper or Marlin. It still comes with important features including hydraulic disc brakes, an aluminium frame and a suspension fork but it is just a little heavier than the other two. It is still a good option as a general use bike for a teenager. The GT Aggressor is available in either the slate colour shown above or in silver.

2021 Whyte 604 Compact - £650

2021 Whyte 604 Compact

Whyte bikes are designed in the UK and are ideal for teenagers who want to do more serious mountain biking. With 27.5” wheels and a 120mm travel fork this is a dedicated off-road bike which can handle hold its own at trail centres. The compact frame is designed for smaller riders (male or female) and works for anyone from 4’ 9” and up. The Whyte 604 just comes in 1 colour.

2021 Raleigh Sherwood - £450

2021 Raleigh Sherwood

If your teenager is less bothered about off-road performance and more interested in looking good then the Sherwood is a good option. It has the style of a classic vintage shopping bike but with modern gearing and brakes so it’s nice and easy to ride. Perfect for getting to school or college in style. The Sherwood comes in either the navy colour shown above or sage green.

2021 Orbea Carpe 40 - £579

2021 Orbea Carpe H40 Blue

Another one for teenagers who have style as their top priority. The Carpe is a hybrid bike designed mainly for use on the road. With simple 1x gearing and powerful disc brakes it is perfect for zipping around town. The Carpe comes in 4 different colour options including a plain black.
