£1000 has traditionally been an accessible price point for road bikes. Up until recently, it was the limit for most cycle to work schemes. You can still get a great quality road bike with a choice of styles and equipment for £1000. Pretty much all the road bikes at this price point will come with an aluminium frame and carbon fork. There are quite a few "all-road" bikes in the sub-£1000 bracket, but in this guide, we focussed on bikes intended mainly or entirely for on-road use.
