Tips For Returning Cyclists

With the rise of cycling, a lot of people are getting old bikes out of sheds, starting to use bikes they haven't before or using bikes that could do with an upgrade. Here are our tips to help you feel great on and get the most out of your bike. Starting with the tools, it's worth having on hand to maintain your bike and get as much out of it as possible.

First Things First

Tips For Returning Cyclists

The fundamentals, starting with the kit it's worth having to maintain your bike and get as much out of it as possible. here are six things you will find useful to have in your bag:

  • Tyre levers for changing a tyre
  • Pumps (read the repair a puncture everything you need to know blog for more info on pumps)
  • Puncture repair kit
  • A spare innertube
  • Allen/Hex keys most screws on bikes use the hex key, so if you change your saddle or want to adjust it, you'll need a hex key.
  • Torque driver if you have a carbon bike you need to be careful not to overtighten screws on the bike this is when a torq driver is vital.

If you ride a bike regularly changing an innertube is as essential. Here's our blog Repair a Puncture, Everything You Need to Know. It will to help you identify the size of your wheel and tips to help you get to grips with changing a tyre.

While we encourage you to take an interest in your bike and it's maintenance, your bike must remain road safe. For this reason, we advise your bike is serviced at least once a year and any mechanical repairs completed by a professional. So give your local bike shop a ring and book your bike in for a checkup or service.

So Your Bikes Sorted What About You?

You want to feel good on your bike that could be about comfort, safety, convenience or aesthetics or all of these elements. Here are some suggestions we think will help you refresh or create the right look for you
