That’s right, Specialized has just dropped the new Specialized Stumpjumper Evo Pro Carbon. It's a carbon fibre version of their super slack, “rowdy” trail bike, the Stumpjumper Evo.
About this time last year was when we first saw the 2019 Evo. With its 63.5-degree head angle, extra roomy top tube. The choice of two sizes is similar to the sizing Specialized use on their downhill bike, the Demo. The Stumpjumper Evo Comp Alloy was simple yet ludicrous and unique. It's not surprising to see a high spec carbon model.
Constructed with FACT 11m carbon fibre and benefits from Specialized’s SWAT box in frame storage. Matched with Roval Traverse carbon wheels, the pro is much lighter than its alloy counterpart.
The matching Fox Float 36 Performance Elite Fork and Fox DHX2 Performance Elite rear coil shock. Look as if they were made for the naked carbon frame, who needs Factory Kashima anyway? The Pro uses the same amount of travel as the comp - the 27.5 has 150mm front and rear and the 29er has 150mm front/140mm rear.
One thing that is surprising is the mid-range Sram GX Eagle 12 speed drivetrain. A great group set at a great price. This possibly shows this bike is more focused on things like frame construction and suspension than flashy group sets.
Big stoppers for big attitude. Sram Code RSC brakes with 200mm rotors let you ride aggressively and live up to the Evo name.
A nice finishing touch. The SWAT Conseal Carry multitool, stored inside the steerer tube.
The raw finish is truly beautiful, everywhere you look at the frame you can see the complex carbon layup. It is complemented with mint green logos.
Specialized has recently released a very humorous promotion for the Stumpjumper Evo using the phrase “Instant Rowdy”. If you don’t know what “Rowdy” is. Then sit down and listen to this very important lesson in mountain bike vocabulary.
“Rowdy” is how aggressive and playful trail riding is described. If you are pulling huge whips and destroying gnarly descents you are “getting rowdy”.
