Meet Sirrus X – A Genre-Busting Flat-Bar Gravel Bike

Meet Sirrus X. When we heard that Specialized was planning to stop making their Crosstrail bikes the reaction was that it was a bit ‘brave’. The Crosstrail has been one of Specialized’s best-selling bikes for years, and one of our best-selling bikes at Cycles UK. The replacement for the Crosstrail is the new Sirrus X which takes the idea of ‘hybrid’ bikes in a whole new direction.

The old Specialized Crosstrail was a pretty standard hybrid bike. It came with road bike size wheels, a suspension fork and plenty of points for attaching mudguards and pannier racks. It made a great bike for commuting, light touring or generally getting around on. The Sirrus X does away with the suspension fork that came on the Crosstrail saving a whopping 1.7kg, making the bike lighter, faster and easier to carry if you need to get it up and downstairs.

The bigger tyres on the Sirrus X act as suspension but also add extra confidence and more stable handling. The wider tyres mean Sirrus X is designed to hit some gravel at the weekends. Perfect for exploring your local tracks. Sirrus X is set up to deliver more confidence to new riders on all surfaces. Provide the performance needed for more experienced riders to go on proper adventures.

With a slightly more upright riding position. A super intuitive one-by drivetrain, and plenty of mounts for racks and mudguards. The Sirrus X can still handle the daily commute but it is capable of a lot more besides. Specialized call it a “let’s do stuff” kind of bike that will inspire you to ride more than you ever have before.

The Sirrus X Range

There are 4 models in the Sirrus X range. Following Specialized’s ‘Beyond Gender’ philosophy each is available in multiple colours and sizes so there are 51 different variations of Sirrus X available to buy. Sizes go from XXSmall through to XXLarge. Colours include Dusty Turquoise, Duty Lilac Flo Red with Blue Ghost Pearl.

The top two bikes in the range, the Sirrus X 4.0 and Sirrus X 5.0, both come with a Specialized FutureShock fork. This is much lighter than a traditional suspension fork but will still take the sting out of bigger bumps when gravel riding or dodging potholes. The rest of the range use similar parts including simple, low maintenance, 1x drivetrains and powerful hydraulic brakes. If you want a bike that will get you around town, and on adventures, at the weekend there is a Sirrus X for you.
