2020 Cannondale Treadwell

The 2020 Cannondale Treadwell is Cannondale’s newest bike this model year. It’s designed as a comfy, fun and playful bike for getting around town. Treadwell is designed to focus on the simple pleasures of riding a bike, whether you are going to work, meeting up with friends or just going exploring. It’s also the first bike to come with Cannondale’s brand new app.

The Cannondale app runs off a built-in sensor that links to your smartphone. You can attach your phone directly to your bike through their new Intellimount Stem. It will then record and display your speed and distance and tell you how much CO2 you are saving and how many calories you are burning by riding a bike. It also does lots of clever stuff in the background like track your route so you can upload it to platforms like Strava and remind you when your bike needs a service.

What about the bikes?

The Treadwell bikes are not about technology and specifications, they are about having fun and feeling good. The saddles are comfy and quilted and the pedals have skateboard grip tape on them so you can wear any kind of shoes you like without slipping.

The Treadwell uses what Cannondale are calling Easy-Ride Geometry. That means a low crossbar so the bike is easy to get on and off, a riding position where you can easily get your feet on the ground at traffic lights and easily reach the breaks when you need them. The 650b x 47c tyres are super stable and grippy and will help soak up any potholes. The Treadwell also comes with Cannondale’s Urban Armour which helps protect the paintwork when leaning the bike up and locking it.

Of course, Cannondale being Cannondale, the Treadwell does come with a beautifully-crafted lightweight aluminium frame. As Cannondale point out the lightness makes the bike faster and easier to ride but will also help if you need to carry it upstairs to your office or flat.

Treadwell is a new fitness platform from Cannondale that supports riders in their daily active pursuits. It’s a light, simple, responsive bike for rolling around, meeting up with friends and getting from here to there with that feeling of freedom that only two wheels can give.

Treadwell EQ, 2 & 3

There are 3 versions of the Treadwell. Each comes in a standard frame and a unisex low-step Remixte version. The low step bike will be popular with riders who have mobility problems and find it hard to get onto a normal bike. Whichever frame style you go with they come in the same colours. To keep things simple all of the bikes use a single chainring at the front and then have 7 or 9 gears at the back.

EQ stands for Equipped and these bikes come with a front rack with bamboo slats and full mudguards as well as hydraulic disc brakes and 9 speed Shimano Gears. It is also all set up for the Cannondale app. The Treadwell EQ bikes are £799.99.

The Treadwell 2 is pretty similar to the EQ. It has 9-speed gears, hydraulic brakes and app integration but you don’t get mudguards or a rack. It is available in two colours. You can either have a dark midnight blue or an eye-catching Crush Orange. The Treadwell 2 is £699.99

The Treadwell 3 is an entry-level bike. It comes with cable operated disc brakes and 7 speed Shimano gears as well as the Cannondale app integration. The Treadwell 3 is available in 2 colours, either Quicksand or Black. The Treadwell 3 is £599.99
