The 2021 Verve 2 Equipped Lowstep in Rage Red is a hybrid bike designed for comfort and fun on commutes, cruises and fitness rides. It has a lot of thoughtful features that make for a confident and comfortable ride such as a lightweight aluminium frame with a road-smoothing suspension fork and seat post, and geometry that keeps you in a comfortable, upright riding posture.

The Verve 2 Equipped Lowstep features durable parts that will hold up, mile after mile such as a reliable drive train with a wide range of 24 speeds so you'll never have to pedal too hard or too soft. Wide (40c), stable tyres with reflective sidewalls. Powerful disc brakes that perform well in any weather and require less effort to activate than rim brakes. An adjustable stem, a padded saddle, ergonomic grips, mudguards, lights, a kickstand and a rear MIK-compatible rack. The Verve 2 Equipped has everything you need to get out and ride.

Why buy a hybrid bike?

Hybrids are the bikes that most people should have. If you want a bike for commuting, going to the shops, getting fit or just for getting around a hybrid is generally the best choice. They combine the speed of a road racing bike with the confident handling of a mountain bike to give you the best of both worlds.

Where are you going to ride?

The first point to think about when picking a hybrid is the kind of surfaces you will be riding on. There are two main flavours of hybrid bike. Some, like the Trek FX, Specialized Sirrus and Cannondale Quick are mainly intended for use on the road. They have bigger gears and skinnier tyres so that they are fast on tarmac. Other bikes like the Trek Dual Sport, Specialized Sirrus X or Cannondale Quick CX are designed to be used on a mixture of surfaces including tracks and gravel paths. They have bigger, grippier tyres and often come with easier gears and some suspension to soak up bumps.

Trek made their first bikes in 1976 in a barn in Wisconsin. Now they’re one of the biggest bike brands in the world. Trek bikes cover everything from professional-level road and mountain bike race bikes to commuters, hybrids and kids bikes. There is a strong heritage of racing at Trek and many Trek bikes have a strong race influence. They take a very scientific approach to researching bike and human performance and then make the fastest and most efficient bikes they can.

It doesn’t stop their attention and passion for cycling flows through everything they do. Since the 1990s, Trek has supported Places for Bikes. Places for Bikes is an advocacy organisation in the USA that gets more people on bikes more often! Places for Bikes ethos falls in line with the companies mission statement to:

Build only products we love. Provide incredible hospitality to our customers, and change the world by getting more people on bikes.
